The Women and Gender Resource Center’s Student Leadership Council (WGRC SLC) offers University of Alabama students the opportunity to hone and cultivate their leadership skills through rigorous volunteering opportunities. The WGRC plans and implements several volunteer and leadership initiatives throughout each academic year. Members of the Student Leadership Council will be vital participants in the promotion and execution of the WGRC’s mission to address gender inequity and foster a community that values social justice, safety, leadership, mentoring, education, multiculturalism, partnership and research. Membership applications will be reviewed at least once a semester.

Beginning Fall 2024, WGRC Student Leadership Council will participate in a curriculum-based 10-week training. This training includes:

  • Identifying and researching social justice and gender-related topics
  • Event planning
  • Partnerships and working in coalition
  • Marketing and messaging
  • Facilitating/hosting events
  • Evaluating your programs and events

In Spring 2025, students will use this training to develop and host a series of WGRC aligned events. Participants are only required to complete the training course once, and then will be eligible to create programming with other SLC members on a continuous basis.

Apply to become a member of the WGRC Student Leadership Council today! Applications are open and reviewed at the end of each semester.
