The Women and Gender Resource Center hosts a variety of seasonal or annual events. While some of these events are established programs, many have opportunities for creative collaboration. If you or your department or organization have ideas for joint programming, please contact us at (205) 348-5040.

Issue-Based Awareness Events

The WGRC recognizes a series of issues at designated times throughout the year. This includes Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Body Appreciation Week, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Activities planned for each of these months can vary from year to year, but many also include signature annual events.

Culture and History Events

The WGRC recognizes cultural heritage months according to national calendars. This includes Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month. Activities planned for each of these months can vary from year to year, but many also include signature annual events.

Take Our Children to Work Day

Hosted in the Fall, Take Our Children to work day is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to bring their children (ages 8-18) to campus for a day of programming.
