The Women and Gender Resource Center hosts a variety of seasonal or annual events. While some of these events are established programs, many have opportunities for creative collaboration. The WGRC recognizes a series of issues at designated times throughout the year. This includes Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Body Appreciation Week, Pay Equity Week, and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Activities planned for each of these months can vary from year to year, but many also include signature annual events.
The WGRC recognizes cultural heritage months according to national and campus calendars. This includes Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, LGBTQ History Month, Native American Heritage Month, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month. Activities planned for each of these months can vary from year to year, but many also include signature annual events.
Our annual Fall fundraiser, Chocolate Festival is an event during Family Weekend in which local vendors donate chocolate and silent auction items and community members purchase tickets to sample sweets.
Our annual Spring fundraiser, Lunafest is a film festival featuring short films for, by, and about women.
Hosted in the Fall, Take Our Daughters and Sons to work day is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to bring their children (ages 8-18) to campus for a day of programming.
